Compass Whitsundays is a non-profit community organisation based in Cannonvale, Queensland. Compass was originally established in 1994 and was previously named Whitsunday Flexible Respite Care Inc.
Compass has grown over the years and now employs over 20 staff and supports over 90 clients. Compass aims to position itself within the disability/aged sector as a highly professional, diverse and expanding service provider.
Compass is funded by the Department of Communities under Disability Services and Home & Community Care. Compass is certified under the Disability Sector Quality System and accredited under the Home & Community Care program.
Compass provides a range of services for:
- People with disabilities
- Seniors
- Carers of people with disabilities and seniors
Services are provided in peoples homes, in the community and at the Compass Centre.
Geographical Area
Compass provides services throughout the Whitsundays region including:
- North to Hydeaway Bay, Dingo Beach and Eden Lassie Creek
- South to Midge Point
- West to Faust Dam
- East to accessible Whitsunday Islands

Objectives
The objectives of Compass Whitsundays are
- That people with disabilities and older people can
- remain in their own home or their family home
- maximise independence by maintaining and developing skills/abilities
- be involved in the community
- That family or other primary caregivers are supported in their role;
- That staff have appropriate skills/abilities and are supported in their role; and
- That the organisation operates in an effective, efficient and accountable manner.
Master Plan
Compass has a long term plan to construct a multi-purpose community complex on the current 5 acre site. The master plan includes:
- Purpose built Day Service facility
- Purpose built Accommodation facility
- Purpose built Respite facility
- Disability Enterprise
- Providing work and training opportunities
- Providing office space for the co-location of community organisations/allied health
- Recreational Facilities – providing pathways, bikeway, greenspace and a playground for the shared use by the whole community
- Historical School House – restoring the current building for the shared use by the whole community
